The Links, Incorporated is an organization of accomplished, dedicated women who are active in your community. The Links members are news makers, role models, mentors, activists and volunteers who work toward the realization of making the name “Links” not only a chain of friendship, but also a chain of purposeful service.
Health and Human Services
The Links, Incorporated is to promote and facilitate programs that support the maintenance of good health and the elimination of chronic health disparities in communities of color through education, health advocacy, and optimal utilization of health resources. The adoption of the Childhood Obesity Resolution at the 35th National Assembly in 2006 signified The Links, Incorporated’s recognition of the need for targeted intervention strategies that address and produce sustainable results among African-American children battling obesity.
National Trends & Services
A new area of interest was added to the national program in 1962. This component was designed to project the Links interest in public affairs, especially those which promote programs that impact the physical, mental, social, environmental and economic well-being of humankind improving self-determination thereby eliminating the reality and perception of second-class citizenship.
The Arts
The work of one of our cultured National co-founders, Margaret Roselle Hawkins, and her passion for creative expression helped in the establishment of The Arts facet in 1964 at the 14th National Assembly. The Links, Incorporated has a strong and rich history of support for the performing and visual arts. From the inception of the organization, The Links have found unique ways to express individual and collective interest in cultural enrichment in our communities.
Intergrated Program
GEMS; Girls Empowered Motivated and Strong
There is a great need for effective mentoring relationships in today’s culture and the potential for academic influence is tremendous. Adolescents need a supportive relationship because of the subsequent investment and social capital that comes with that relationship (William & Bryan, 2013 Williams, J.M. & Bryan 2013).

The Beverly Hills West (CA) chapter's transformation program GEMS (Girls Empowered, Motivated and Strong) is a research-based, 12 month, after school girls only program (in partnership and alignment with GHSA’s mission/vision) exists to prepare youth, 10-12 years of age, to build character, meet the challenges of adolescence and teens, help girls achieve social, emotional, and physical well-being; and, be their authentic self.

The program mentors 6th grade girls through middle school years and takes action to ensure high school readiness and confidence. GEMS mentoring program build leadership skills and character traits such as honesty, personal accountability, listening to others viewpoints, and sound decision-making, and more. All of these skills are essential to success in school, and in life.
